1. Here are links to the current impeachment processes in the house. They'll never get the impeachment before he leaves, it looks like - but there is always the hope that the investigations will lead to Bush et al being indicted and convicted of war crimes. I know I'm way behind, I've been unavailable to do anything for two years, unfortunately, but now I can start again: http://kucinich.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=78425 exerpt: Recent reports indicate that the Vice President is attempting to shape the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran to conform to his misperceptions about the threat Iran actually poses. Much like his deceptive efforts in the lead up to the Iraq war, the Vice President appears to be manipulating intelligence to conform to his beliefs. 2. http://kucinich.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=93581 exerpt: Article I Creating a Secret Propaganda Campaign to Manufacture a False Case for War Against Iraq.

Washington, Jul 15 - A single Article of Impeachment of President Bush, which alleges that Mr. Bush sent the nation to war under the false pretenses, will be brought to the floor of the House this afternoon. Its sponsor, U.S. Representative Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH), will rise to refer the bill to the Committee on the Judiciary. Kucinich has long been pressing for Impeachment hearings. He previously introduced 35 articles relating to President Bush and three articles relating to the Vice President.
Kucinich, under the rules of the House governing questions of privilege, read the Impeachment resolution before the House last week. Today the Clerk will officially read it into the record as a bill, it will be given a number and then will be subject to parliamentary motions. If Kucinich is successful, the bill will be referred to committee rather than tabled. Last week Speaker Pelosi, for the first time, indicated an interest in committee hearings on President Bush's abuse of executive power, including the issues that Kucinich raised.
5. http://kucinich.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=98607 Kucinich Testifies on Abuses of Executive Power
Washington, Jul 25 - Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) testified about President Bush’s culpability for leading the country to war today at a House Judiciary Committee hearing entitled “Executive Power and its Constitutional Limitations.” The full text of the statement follows: Our country has been at war in Iraq, and has occupied the streets and villages of Iraq for five years, four months, and 6 days. The war has caused the deaths of 4,127 American soldiers and the deaths of as many as one million innocent Iraqis. The war will cost the American people upwards of $3 trillion and is the main contributing factor to the destruction of our domestic economy. Mr. Chairman, I would ask unanimous consent to enter S.J. Res. 45 into the record. The primary justifications for going to war, outlined in the legislation which the White House sent to Congress in October of 2002, have been determined conclusively to be untrue: • Iraq was not “continuing to threaten the national security interests of the United States” • Iraq was not “continuing to possess and develop a significant chemical and biological weapons capability. . .” • Iraq was not “actively seeking a nuclear weapons capability” • Iraq did not have the “willingness to attack, the United States” • Members of Al Qaeda were not “known to be in Iraq” • Iraq had not “demonstrated capability and willingness to use weapons of mass destruction. . .” • Iraq could not “launch a surprise attack against the United States or its Armed Forces” • Therefore there was not an “extreme magnitude of harm that would result to the United States and its citizens from such an attack” • The aforementioned did not “justify the use of force by the United States to defend itself” • Iraq had no connection with the attacks of 9/11 or with al Qaeda's role in 9/11 • Iraq possessed no weapons of mass destruction to transfer to anyone • Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction and therefore had no capability of launching a surprise attack against the United States or its Armed Forces and no capability to provide them to international terrorists who would do so 6. http://judiciary.house.gov/news/062708.html Headline: Conyers Issues Subpoena to DOJ for Valerie Plame Documents 7. http://judiciary.house.gov/news/071708.html Headline: Conyers Announces Hearing on Imperial Presidency 8. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080716/ap_on_go_pr_wh/cia_leak Exerpt: Bush claims privilege to withhold CIA leak records WASHINGTON - President Bush invoked executive privilege to keep Congress from seeing the FBI report of an interview with Vice President Dick Cheney and other records related to the administration's leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity in 2003. The president's decision drew a sharp protest Wednesday from Rep. Henry Waxman, chairman of House Oversight Committee, which had subpoenaed Attorney General Michael Mukasey to turn over the documents. "This unfounded assertion of executive privilege does not protect a principle; it protects a person," the California Democrat said. "If the vice president did nothing wrong, what is there to hide?" Okay, then - more to come later as issues develop. Here is food for thought: If we live in a country that celebrates freedom, especially freedom of the press, why is it that the impeachment resolution, inquiries, and investigation are not being broadcast on the regular TV news and in the local newspapers?
